Spinning Wheel Exploration

New this year!

Join us for the Spinning Wheel Exploration in the Special Events Room on Friday and Saturday from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.

Whether you are a total beginner or a seasoned spinner looking to flirt with a new setup, the Spinning Wheel Exploration is designed for you!

This isn’t just a demonstration—it’s an invitation to an interactive “test drive” of the spinning world. We’re gathering a variety of wheels (and their friendly owners!) in one room so you can try out different spinning wheels for yourself.  It’s a rare opportunity to compare multiple brands and styles side-by-side in one room.

What to Expect:

  • The Ultimate Test Drive: Move through a rotation of various spinning wheels—from traditional wooden beauties to modern engineering marvels.
  • Fiber Matchmaking: Discover why certain wheels are the “soulmates” of fine flax and cotton, while others are built to powerhouse through protein fibers.
  • Expert Insight: Sit down, grab a chair, and chat! Many wheels will be hosted by their owners, giving you a front-row seat to real-world tips, tricks, and maintenance talk.
  • Farm-to-Bobbin: Practice your draft with beautiful roving donated by local farms.
  • No pressure, no rush. Try one or try them all.  See which one speaks to you! Our volunteer coordinator will be there to help you find a seat and keep the fiber flowing. There is no specific rotation time however, the coordinator may request an individual move to another wheel if there is a waiting line for that wheel.

📢 Calling all spinners!

Love your wheel? Let it show off at the Spinning Wheel Exploration!

We all remember that “Aha!” moment—the first time the fiber drafted perfectly and the wheel hummed in rhythm. Now, we’re looking for passionate spinners to help others find that same magic at Carolina FiberFest.

We’re looking for a few good wheels (and their owners!) to join our Wheel Exploration at Carolina FiberFest. We want to show the public the incredible variety in our craft—from traditional Saxony wheels to the latest e-spinners. If you love your wheel and enjoy talking shop with curious newcomers, we’d love to have you in the Special Events Room this Friday or Saturday from 1-3 PM.

What’s in it for you? ✅ Bragging rights for your favorite wheel. ✅ A chance to help grow our fiber community. ✅ Hanging out with fellow enthusiasts in a fun, low-pressure environment.
