Carolina FiberFest……. A Ten Year Love Affair

Ten years ago a group of fiber lovers dreamed of a fiber event in Eastern North Carolina. With much work Carolina FiberFest was born.

Carolina FiberFest’s mission is to:

  • educate the public about fiber and its sources
    •preserve heritage arts and crafts
•promote small farms producing fiber and fiber animals
•support fiber artists and fiber-related businesses
•provide a venue for the public to interact with the fiber arts world.

By demonstrating skills to the public, sharing knowledge, and through the close interaction of classes, Carolina FiberFest sows the seeds for future generations of fiber artists, crafts people and fiber producers.

Carolina FiberFest 2016 will be held at the N.C. State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, N.C. in the Holshouser building on March 25& 26, 2016. On Friday the 25th the hours are 1-7 and on the 26th from 9-5. Vendors, Fiber Craft demonstrations, A Sheep to Shawl demonstration, Classes, and Make It and Take It programs highlight this years’ event. Many of our vendors are “Farm to Yarn” vendors with custom fiber products from their farms. The event is free and open to the public.

The many guilds represented at the event showcase the fiber arts diversity in eastern North Carolina. The talented artisans in Triangle Weaver’s Guild, Twisted Threads Fiber Arts Guild, The Crochet Guild, the Ol’ North State Knitting Guild, the Sir Walter Raleigh Bobbin Lace Guild, the Tri-Tatters Guild and the Machine Knitters Guild will be part of the event demonstrating the great range of traditional and new age fiber arts.

We welcome you to our tenth year celebration of all things fiber on March 25&26, 2016. See you there!
